3 years later

Today it has been 3 years. 3 years ago we received a phone call that changed our lives forever. 3 years ago a caring, kind person called my phone and said those words no one wants to hear, "I'm sorry it's breast cancer." Sometimes I think it's been longer, and sometimes it seems like yesterday.  It's been a rollercoaster ride for sure. I am thankful for where I sit today, cancer free! I am still trying to wrap my head around all the changes to my physical, mental and emotional person that cancer created.  I did not know the impact of fighting for your life. The changes that are forever.  On this anniversary, I feel like I'm finally able to take a closer look at myself and start to make plans for the future. Plans that include how I will be on this side of the fight, picking up the pieces and dreaming again.  They say that the 5 years anniversary is the big one for cancer survivors. And I'm glad to be closer to that date today.

So, today... 3 years later. I'm just grateful! Grateful to be able to start to plan and dream again!
