Starting Point
As our life has been given new challenges these last few weeks. I've been trying to find a way to get information into family & friends hands. It's hard and a little overwhelming. We decided to blog about this journey. I can't promise there will be daily updates, but we'll do our best to get information out so you know how to pray, if we need anything and just kept in the loop. I also will also let you know, grammar might not always be perfect, we are private people and asking for help or having attention focused on us is hard for us but we can't put into words how much we love each of you and appreciate you loving us!
The basics: On September 27, 2019 I was officially diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I say officially because I had a pretty good idea on September 13th, but we needed confirmation tests. It's been a roll coaster of emotions, but in the end we know we serve a BIG God and He has this! He knows all the details, all the trials and outcomes and we are going to walk by faith and take this one day at a time. The whole family is in good spirits and doing very well.
Next steps: We have doctor appointments the next two days and will hopefully be getting some answers to "what's next". We are still waiting for a MRI to be approved through insurance and then we will add that to the appointment list. We do know they will be performing surgery at some point, sooner rather than later, we need to get the tumor out and then test it some more to make sure we are fighting it correctly.
What we need: Prayer for strength to get through the unknown, patience in the waiting, clarity of mind to get through the day to day activities we need to: school, work, life!
We want things to stay as normal as possible until they can't, which normal is a funny word because we don't live normal lives ever!
More details (if you want them): I found the mass and went into the doctor. I was behind on my mammograms. And we do have a family history of breast cancer. They found it and sent me for a mammogram and ultrasound the next day. We then scheduled the biopsy, we did postpone that test for a week as we were going to Seattle to celebrate our 22nd anniversary. Which with doctor's approval was a blessing. We had an amazing time and will treasure the time we got to be together! The biopsy was performed, again all this time we had a pretty strong idea it was cancerous, the doctors just couldn't confirm it. I have been assigned a navigator with the cancer center who has helped me walk through this process, she is AMAZING! We have been assigned great doctors and the care we are receiving is impressive. They know what they are doing and do it very well. This is treatable, it's a common type of cancer. It's just a difficult season we will have to walk through. God's timing has been incredible, to the point of awe-inspiring. I don't say that lightly. He has guided each moment down to small details that take my breath away.
