Weekly Update
Lots of appointments have been happening right now as we get ready for radiation to start. Had my first antibody infusion with the new drugs on Thursday. Seemed to do ok with the new drugs. They made me a little sick but nothing major. We saw the radiation oncologist on Friday, discussed the plan going forward. I had my final appointment with the plastic surgeon for a little while on Monday, I’ll see him again in a little over a month. I have a scan on Thursday to determine where the radiation will go. Then we’ll map out the treatment and start scheduling the appointments. I have a love hate relationship with radiation. I’m happy it will increase my survival rate but I really am not looking forward to it. Everyday - Monday through Friday for 5 weeks. I have the good lotion, I’m preparing mentally for going, and I’m continuing to trust that God has this whole process in His hands and that my job is simply to walk through it with a good attitude, or at least not grumble about it to much. Which I’m working on, still not 100% successful at it all the time.
We are all doing pretty well considering everything. We are home, safe and healthy (for the most part) - our allergies are bad, any one else? Spring in the Rockies. Well, it feels like winter actually right now, as we have snow on the ground and more coming but spring is coming. There are days we all go a little stir crazy. But we are enjoying time together and making due with what we have been blessed with. Easter definitely looked different, as everyone’s did. But we were able to zoom call the grandparents and send a little time chatting, that was a special time.
Tomorrow is a big day, our first born is turning 18! I still can’t believe it. I’m in shock. How can this be? 18. She will officially be an adult tomorrow. 18. We have been parents for 18 years. We have raised this little girl and she is an incredible young woman. 18. God has some big plans for her and she has grown into a woman I’m proud to call mine. 18. She has shown such strength and resilience during this journey. Her trust in God has grown with depth that will carry her far. We obviously don’t have BIG plans, but we have a few small plans. And making sure she knows how much we love her and how proud of her we are is just one of them.
Hope this finds you doing well. Thank you for praying for us during this journey and loving us. You are special to us and we couldn’t do this without you!
