Time for an update
It's been awhile again so I thought I'd give you an update on us.
Like everyone in the world we are just going with the flow and handling things that come our way on a daily basis. I told you last time that I have been dealing with some new side effects. We think they are caused from the infusions that I'm taking. The infusions are antibodies that are designed to keep the cancer cells in check and from coming back. We changed antibodies after my surgery. The antibodies that I'm currently on have a little bit of chemo in them. Praise God I only have two more of them and then we are done with infusions. We think the infusions are causing some of the side effects. Currently, I'm dealing with some digestive issues and neuropathy in my feet. We have found medication that is helping with both problems but sadly I'm taking more meds now than I have this whole journey. I don't love taking medications and I always worry about other side effects from them. But at least I'm feeling better for the most part. And at the end of the day that is the most important thing, I need to be able to function and not live in pain and discomfort.
The next big news is we have scheduled my next surgery, it will be on December 2nd (fingers crossed, and prayers lifted nothing gets in the way). This is the big reconstructive surgery. I'll be in recovery mode again for 4-6 weeks. But at least after this surgery we should be able to see the light at the end of this journey and be able to close this chapter and start a new one. I'm really looking forward to 2021 for this reason alone and as I'm sure you are as well for all the other reasons.
School starts back for the boys tomorrow. I don't think they are overly excited but it will be good for them to get back in a schedule of learning. They will be able to go to the options classes on Fridays which I'm excited for them to be able to get out of the house and learn with others. We will just see how long it lasts with all the Covid worries. Praying they have a good school year and that they adjust well to all the restrictions and precautions in place.
Our girl is starting community college classes and her first job! We are excited for her and to see her get back into a routine as well. It's been hard but I think having some things to plan out her day will be good for her.
J is working at home and doing well. He isn't new to this remote working thing so that has been good for him to be able to be here and work.
Overall, we are doing good. Bumps in the road here and there but I think we are handling them all well. Continue to pray that the meds work and that we can get through the last two infusions without any new surprises. Pray for schooling for the boys. And as we get out and about more and more that we all stay healthy and don't catch any illnesses out in the world.
