Getting close

We are getting closer and closer to the date of surgery! Life is insane. I'm always surprised how many things can happen when you are trying to focus on getting ready for a big event. I feel like I'm just along for the ride right now and just trying to hold on to all that is happening around me.

We are expecting a huge snowstorm this weekend, like 2 feet of snow big. The kids are all a part of a Fine Arts/Youth convention at our church. They have been preparing for this weekend for months.  I'm worried about them and them getting around in the snow. I'm having to stay as safe as possible from getting any infection so I'm not even able to go see them perform because I can't take the chance. I'm even staying away from my kids for now until surgery because I can't take the chance they will pick up something while they are out and I'm going to get it.  It's an emotional time in our house right now as we prepare for Wednesday.

On another note, I had my Covid test today. I was supposed to have it tomorrow but they are closing in anticipation of the snowstorm.  2 FEET is a lot of snow for us, it's been years since we have seen that kind of snow. I'm praying that my test comes back negative and that we are a go for Wednesday.  The test its self wasn't that bad.

I had my labs yesterday for surgery.  The PA called, they are a little worried about my White Blood cell count, it's been low in this treat the treatment stage from the antibodies that I took. It's been 6 months since I've had any treatment but it can take up to a year to get out of my system and for my body to heal from all that has happened. And a year is just a guess sometimes it can take longer, 2 years. Who knew? Things you learn after you are done with treatments.

Also had my pre-op appointment on Monday, everything has been signed for consent for surgery. We reviewed the plan. I'll get there at 5:30 AM (approx.) - the nurse said they don't even open until 6 AM.  J & M will get to come back to pre-op with me it sounds like, they will prep me for surgery and then my doctor told J to go home. Rest, relax, work, they will call him and give him updates. It will be dark before they are done. Anywhere from 8-12 hours, they are normally in the 10 range. They can not come back to post-op. I will recover alone and then once I'm in a room, depending on the time, they might get to see me for a few minutes. If it's after 8 PM I (and they) will have to wait until the next morning to see me.  I'll tell you I don't like that at all! Not even a little bit! I'm a little upset about the possibility that I won't see anyone I love until the next morning! Now I know that worrying does nothing. I know that God will take care of me! I know that I will have an incredible staff of people taking care of me! I know these things but it doesn't stop me from being upset that I might not get to see them. So, I'm praying! I need my people!

I share all this so that you know how to pray for us as this next week happens. I've had this song on my heart for the past week or so and it took me a little bit to realize why I keep humming it, singing it, and wanting to hear it over and over.

Here is my biggest takeaway from this song, the sparrows don't worry about tomorrow or the troubles to come because He takes good care of me! He knows what I need before I even ask a thing. His kindness never ends and I'm carried in His love no matter what the future holds! Take a listen if you haven't heard it or if you have just loved it like I do!

I'm so thankful for you our friends that have walked with us through this journey! For your prayers and thoughts! For reaching out to us! You will never know the impact you have had in my life. And all I can say is thank you! I know what is coming is going to be hard. There will be challenging times but I know that we are in good hands! If you think about us on Wednesday, drop a text to us - I'll read it when I wake up and if you have my kids' or husband's cell phone I'd appreciate you reaching out to them as well. It will be hardest on them, all I have to do is sleep, and then recovery. They have to watch their person go through it and not be able to take it away or make it better.

Well... I think I've gone on long enough for today. :) I will continue to drop info on here as I have thoughts and things to share. Have a blessed week and if you live by me stay safe, warm and enjoy the snow! Love you all!
