Surgery Update
As many of you saw on Facebook, Tuesday we weren’t sure surgery was going to be able to happen. I was an emotional mess, I spent more time in prayer on Tuesday. Many times just asking that God’s will be done in my life, and that I will remember not to panic if surgery ended up being cancelled. I was also praying for a lot of peace. God’s peace is such a special present and I love knowing that He gives still to his children.
We got to the hospital very early on Wednesday morning and they were waiting for us, check in went super smooth. We prepared as surgery was a go and after we took blood and I had signed all the consents my blood work came back at 141, two points lower that the previous day. I will tell you there was a moment I was disappointed in God. I felt like really God you could give me these points so that I could turn all the praise to you during this, and the it hit. It really doesn’t matter what the numbers are. God has been with me each step and actually it’s a bigger step of faith knowing He will be with me even when everything it’s perfect and one thing I’ve noticed in this journey is that. Nothing is perfect and God is not wanting perfection from me, my one job is to follow up, broken, messed up, angry disappointed. God will take me just how I am and is still able to use me. I love that!
Doctor came in at 7:30 AM and we chatted and made the decision to go for it knowing all the risks that we were taking. Knowing my labs aren’t perfect. Actually what he kept saying is your labs aren’t normal. I want everything to be normal. But we decided together to go for it. I spent the next 10-1/2 hours in surgery and 2 hours in recovery. I remember none of it. They only I remember is they let J & M stay past visiting hours to see me in my room. And that made my day. I slept most of Thursday, except when they are probing for tests. I had amazing nurses that took great care of me. They have a special calling on their lives and I know that they know how to take good care of their patient. What a blessing!
We are now on day 3 of hospital stay and there is talk I’ll get to go home tomorrow as I’m checking off all the lists they want to see happen. My labs are still low but they are watching them. My surgery site looks amazing, I’m up walking and getting around with a walker (who would have guessed a 45 with a walker - but’s a cool color and if it help me not fall on my face then I’m happy.
I’m just very thankful for everyone who called, texted, reached out to bless my family. Thank for the gifts cards and meals and invitations for my kids. You love me more than I deserve. And I just want to say thank you and I love you!
