What a full weekend!
Friday night while the kids were at Fine Arts/Youth Convention at our church, J & I went to dinner at my parent's house, and then I spent the night at their house with our little puppy dog because the boys were having friends spend the night and I'm trying to be as careful as possible to stay well from germs and the dog is a big pain when friends are over. It was special for me to be with my parents and I was happy the boys were able to have something "normal" with their friends.
Saturday, the boys competed in Fine Arts, which is a competition that helps youth develop and present their talents. They are evaluated and given feedback that helps them learn what areas they can work on and continue to develop. A & Q were a part of a group of boys that sang. They worked so hard on this and for about half of them, it was the first time they had ever done anything like this before. They decided to do a sea shanty which was fun! Then A did a bass solo and a guitar solo. And Q did a saxophone solo. They both did amazing. A is self-taught and Q has been taking lessons for about 2 years now. We are so proud of them both for all the hard work they put into these performances. Q did receive a Superior rating with an invitation to nationals and received the award of merit meaning he scored high enough and was the best in his category.
Sunday, we celebrated the head of our household, the man!, Our Rock! J's birthday was a nice laid back relaxing day. As we were in the middle of a blizzard and the dumping of two and a half feet of snow. We were so thankful the storm held off and didn't ruin the kids' weekend but it did make church service go online only. Which meant we just stayed home and enjoyed church on the sofa. We did have to cancel lunch plans and for that, we were bummed. But we will reschedule and continue to celebrate him later in the month.
Today was the dig-out day! 2-1/2 feet of snow and drifts even higher is a big deal. J and I started the day early digging (love that snowblower), and then the kids and I finished it up. I'm so thankful I was able to get out and with the kids help get dugout. J had tons of work stuff going on because, of course, the week of surgery his work is exploding. He has so much going on and we are just praying for him that he is able to handle all of his work responsibilities and not feel pulled as he is wanting to be with me. It's a crazy time in our life for sure!
A couple of health things: Covid test negative! YAY! But I have to go have some more blood work tomorrow as there is a little concern about my white blood cell count and platelet count. Cancer treatment is hard on the body, to say the least, and my body still hasn't bounced back as well as we'd like. The surgeon just wants to make sure everything is stable and make sure we are safe and ok to proceed.
know God has a plan, He knows everything that is happening. There are no surprises for Him but there are times I wish I knew what the plan is. I'm at peace. I really am, well as much as you can be when you are going into a super long surgery and recovery! But I'm not worried about anything else. I'll go with the flow and do what needs to be done. As you are praying, which again THANK YOU!, just pray that peace stays with us. That we walk in faith and trust. And that we don't lose sight of His goodness and blessings in our life!
