Continued surprises on our journey

This journey is full of surprises, always. I want to start by saying that we weren't sure we wanted to share this newest update because we are feeling lots of guilt and grief and sadness and I wanted to protect my kids from anyone being mean to them about possible exposure. My heart hurts for the world we live in that my mind has to go there first. But one thing I've learned and was brought to my mind this week is that prayer is important and we have a community of people in our lives that give us grace and love us.

So...this week we were all diagnosed with COVID. That awful word that we have done so good to protect ourselves from for the last year. We really thought it was just a cold that our youngest had, we isolated him the best we could, we cleaned like mad people and in the end, it didn't matter. J & I are the hardest hit. We have fevers, body aches, headaches, exhaustion, and all-around feel awful.  Our kids are bouncing back much quicker, they just have a cough and some minor aches.

For me and my recovery, only being 3 weeks out of major surgery my doctor is monitoring me pretty closely. We are monitoring oxygen levels and signs of dehydration. We are doing everything we can to keep me out of the hospital. If she has to send me they will likely admit me given all of my previous medical conditions and my recent surgery. I don't want that so if you will join us in praying that we don't have to go down this road.  My doctor is amazing and her last words to me today were "you got this!" and "we got this".

This is just another bump in the road of our journey. We know that God will carry us through this and we trust that we'll add this to the list of things He gave us a victory over!
