Life
Things should be getting back to "normal" and I guess in a sense they are, but I'll be honest I don't know what normal is any more. Our lives have changed so much since the start of this journey and they really have changed for good. I know that seems weird to say considering everything but our life is at a good place. I'm looking at life through different views and I've realized so much along this journey. I have slowed down and learned to just take each moment for what it is.
Healing is going well! Incision looks great. I'm still moving in different ways, slow and not able to stand up completely. I started physical therapy yesterday and we will work on my range of motion and getting my shoulders to loosen up from surgery and radiation. Radiation did a number on my left side so we are working on getting that back to normal. I will be following up with my plastic surgeon in the next couple of weeks and we will plan the revision surgery for 3-4 months from now just to tweak everything and make it look perfect. That is his job, to make it look as good as possible and he is very, very good at his job. I'm so blessed to have found him, thankful every day for my friend that sent me to him!! Love her!!
Remember how I said we are at the treat the treatment stage of this journey. Well, that is the gift that keeps on giving and not only does cancer give this gift but Covid gives this gift as well. Last Friday, I developed some eye issues, floaters, and spots in my vision. I'm seeing a specialist and we are running some tests to rule out any major issues, which so far we have ruled out major stuff. We know what the issues are, now we just have to figure out what is causing the issues. Vision is a gift that I never, ever want to mess with so I took it pretty seriously. I'm having more blood work and will follow up with him to figure this new development out. One day I hope to stop being a patient on a regular basis.
The last update is on the family, they are all doing really well. The kids are all back to 100%. No lingering covid side effects. J is still exhausted most days and has a lingering cough. We understand that can last 4-6 weeks. Covid is no joke, it's a nasty virus that affects everyone differently, is still so new and no one really knows all there is to know about it. Every doctor I've talked to just says it's a weird virus that does strange things to the body. Things that they don't understand and wouldn't expect.
I feel like that is the world we live in right now, we are in times that no one really understands and no one really knows what to do with. We are all doing the best we can to just make it through each day. And I for one want to give as much grace and love to the people I come in contact with on a daily basis because we never know someone's story. We don't know what they are going through and being kind, offering a cheerful word or a thank you might just make their day a little easier. I have been so thankful for the people that are in life - you! And I hope you know that no matter what you are going through today, we pray and think about your regularly. We appreciate each one of you for what you do today in our world and for your story!
Love ya!
