Hello Fall!
September is my favorite month of the year. It always has been. September is the start of fall, the temperatures start to get cooler, I love my sweatshirts & blankets. Our wedding anniversary is in September. It will be 24 years this year. The leaves change colors. I love all the colors! My besties birthday is in September. It's just an all-around good month.
Two years ago in September we also added another anniversary, the date of my diagnosis. September 27th will be 2 years from when we heard the news that I had breast cancer and our lives forever changed. I can't believe it's been 2 years. So much has changed in 2 years. Overall I'm just so thankful I am sitting here writing this update and that I'm cancer FREE.
Tomorrow I go in for my 5th surgery in 2 years. Not counting all the chemo, radiation, scans, blood draws, doctor appointments, and craziness that cancer brought to our lives. 5 surgeries! Tomorrow's surgery is about 3 hours long. It's for continued revisions to the reconstruction. And it probably won't be my last one. It's outpatient so that is good. But there is recovery. We are praying that this recovery won't be as hard as the others. It shouldn't be. And I am a champ at recovery. I have my set up with my recliner and computer. My TV tray hasn't moved in two years. Mentally recovery is hard. Physically recovery is hard. I try to just remember that one day this is will all be a distant memory. And I focus on the positives and keep a grateful heart. I have so much to be thankful for.
Even though we sit in a changing world, not just mine personally but every one of us sits in a changing world. I've always believed being positive and focusing on the good is so important! I'm not going to say it is always easy because there are moments that it is so not, I am naturally a negative person! But overall knowing that I've been blessed with a God who loves me even with all my imperfections and emotions, who has a plan for my life. Knowing I've been given family and friends that are the most incredible people in the world. You love me and support me. You hold me up when I don't know-how, you are always in my corner and cheering me on through the hard times. These are things that allow me to focus on the positive and hold on to the promises that I so strongly believe in while loving my people and supporting them the best way I can.
So, as I go into surgery tomorrow know that I love you! That I'm praying for you just like you are praying and thinking of me.
And Hello Fall - I'm so glad you are here again!
